Hi, I am Vikram Paul, I am from India and I am doing my Ph.D. in Department of Bioscience and Biotechnology under Dr. Todd Hsu in National Taiwan Ocean University.

1. What made you decide to study in Taiwan?

Taiwan have good quality of research and teaching methods have high standard with outstanding professors and last but not least Taiwan is a safe place to live without any worries. 

2.  Briefly tell us about the program you are studying. What subjects are you studying? What have you enjoyed the most in your studies?

am doing my Ph.D. in toxicology to be precise I am working on DNA Repair , most of the time I focus on research, I study molecular biology, developmental biology, immunology, biochemistry, By reading these complicated subjects I feel like I am doing something which can help in cancer and I enjoy it a lot.

3. How is studying in Taiwan when compared to studying and being a student in your home country? (Teaching Quality、Environment、School Equipment、Laboratory or others)

As in one of my interview I mentioned that Taiwan is best for research, professors are really friendly, the environment is nice and sometimes I fear to handle the equipment because the equipment are quite expensive but still professors allow me to handle the equipment and my labmates are really friendly and Taiwanese people are always amazing and helpful.

4.  What has been the most difficult part about applying to study in Taiwan? How did you overcome the difficulty?

Applying for the admission is not difficult and there is no single difficulty in studying in Taiwan.

5.  What do you plan to do after you have finish your studies in Taiwan? Would you like to stay in Taiwan?  Why? 

After my Ph.D. I will continue my postdoc here in Taiwan because the research is really good and It will be amazing to live in a country which is ranked as the safest country in the world and I love Taiwan a lot.

6.  How do you think studying in Taiwan can benefit you in your future career?

As a researcher, I feel Taiwan had helped me a lot especially My university because my professors explain me about molecular biology very clearly which is an ocean, and the professors train me how to deal with problems and design new experiments which can help me a lot for my future.

7.  What do you see as your key achievements when studying in Taiwan?

My key achievements are I learned a lot of things related professionally and personally and I learned a lot of new things in Taiwan one particular thing my professors taught me is “don’t follow blindly make questions in each and every steep try to find solutions if I can’t I can ask my professors help”.

8. What advice do you have for other interested overseas students who want to come to Taiwan to study?

Pack your bags, don’t think about anything just come to Taiwan and you will enjoy a lot and you will be having a lot of fun in Taiwan personally and professionally, If this review was reading by an Indian I suggest you to bring spices from India.
