Why do I love Taiwan?/Ravikan Nonkhuntod

had been interested in studying Health Economics, and Taiwan fulfilled my dream. Studying at National Dong Hua University has been a milestone journey. Thailand, my home country, is not far from Taiwan, but many things are different. Being a scholar in Taiwan has given me not only education, but has also let me gain invaluable experience. Taiwan offers me three things that I will never forget: an excellent environment, a professional education, and an international connection.
First, Taiwan is one of the safest countries in the world, and is full of generous and friendly people. This island is the perfect place, with a lot of splendid scenery. Moreover, Taiwan is an excellent blend of an advanced industrial economy and a tranquil spot. Taiwan provides a quality living environment with features like a highly equipped health care system, efficient public transportation, and universal education. Nonetheless, the cost of living in Taiwan is almost the same as Bangkok. Additionally, Taiwan’s education is conducted in a bilingual Chinese and English learning environment. Although I cannot understand Chinese, I do not worry about it, because my university offers free Chinese courses.
Second, I believe in the quality of education here, because Taiwan was ranked fourth among OECD countries in terms of global education. Taiwan deserves this award because universities focus heavily on research. Professional professors have been recruited to provide research supervision. They are therefore not only teachers, but they also give students inspiration and support. Moreover, universities provide comprehensive learning aids. I particularly enjoy having access to a research database, because I can read whatever I want. Taiwan applies a “learning by doing" strategy within the educational system to help students develop their analytical and synthetic thinking. Students who learn by practice understanding more than those who merely learn concepts and facts by rote. Furthermore, all universities in Taiwan provide scholarships for students who work hard. If your performance meets the standard, you can get a scholarship every semester.
Third, studying in Taiwan is a great chance to meet new friends, acquire new languages and encounter different cultures. I have plenty of friends, not only Taiwanese friends, but international ones also. We spent time together learning, working, and traveling. It amazes me that we can be friends because we all come from different places and cultures. We share everything, and we respect each other. Studying in Taiwan offers the chance to build such international connections. I can develop my proficiency in such languages as English and Chinese. I am also improving my self-development skills, attitude, and broadening my mindset.
Finally, I am very happy to be in Taiwan - a land of opportunity, rich culture, and friendship. I am so grateful to Taiwan for all the opportunities I have been given. My experiences in Taiwan have taught me how to teach myself. I think this is the most important thing in my life, because learning never ends. Life is even more fun if we can learn more by understanding how to learn.
