國際學生心得分享

想知道國際學生們對於在臺灣唸書有什麼想法和感受?您一定要聽聽他們的故事。

Don’t need the same language to have fun/Chloé Jabouyna

Friendships when you are abroad have another signification, mainly in Taiwan which is very far away of my country (France) and which has a totally different culture.
Indeed, when you are in another country you are alone, you leave your family your friends… Buddies replace all of them, they are your new relatives. Thus you become very quickly close to people around you, you share everything with them good moments, and there are a lot, but also the bad. You share your adventure with them, you discover new experiences, with my friends we did scuba diving for the first time it was an amazing practice and I am very glad to do that with them. When I miss my family, as for Christmas or my birthday, they were here to make me laugh and I forgot my blues. In fact for my birthday I had cake on my face, so I was too busy to clean my face and have eaten a delicious cake than think about my family.
Friendship means mainly to share your culture, I meet international and local people, and we all learn about each other, thanks to them I have improve my English, but mainly I am improve myself. I am more open-minded, I learn a lot about other way of life, way of thinking. This is very important and interesting in an international relations. One of the very good point too is when you have friend in the whole world, when you travel you have someone to host you and make you visit the country. I have already plan to go in Mexico, to visit my friend and travel around, we are globetrotters now!
Thanks to my Taiwanese friends I discover Taiwan, mainly its food, the famous Din Tai Fung, and the stinky tofu, also the “weird” signs that you must do on the picture, sometimes I can see clearly the cultural difference, but I like them so I do not care if they do some strange thing on picture. They help me a lot here, we need to help each other more than in my home country. My local friends are also my tour guides, my advisers and my translators.
We can imagine that in international friendship can be stop by the language, but it is a wrong stereotype, with my basketball team, the language of sport is universal, we do not need to speak the same language to share our emotions. On the contrary, it can create very funny moment with some misunderstanding, or I try to teach them some French words, I love their accent, and they always teach me some bad word in Chinese, they laugh about my pronunciation.
I would finish with my philosophy: it is your friends who make your adventure special, not the place where you are.
