Big love for Taiwan/Khulan Erdenekhuyag

Big Love for Taiwan
My name is Khulan, a student of National Donghwa University, a girl who wants to share my precious and unforgettable memories here . Even though it has been only a little more than a year since I came to Taiwan, it already feels like home here. I still remember how I was reluctant to come here at first, and of course, it was a very hard time trying to adapt in a whole new place as a 16 years old teenage girl. But as time passed on, things have started getting better, and my perception of Taiwan has also changed drastically. But why did it happen? Well, I have an exact answer: it’s the friendship! Friendship between me and my Taiwanese friends was the main reason of the change of my life here for many reasons.
First, after a month I came here, I joined in a “Pop Dance Club” in our university, and it was the best decision I have ever made, because now it is one of most important parts in my life. I was the only foreigner in my dance club, and I didn’t know a single Chinese word back then. So at first, I had no idea what was going on there; but, fortunately, other Taiwanese students did their best to help me in every possible way, and I made a lot of life longing friends there. When any of us feel tired and discouraged, others give their encouragements, and we keep fighting through any conditions holding our hands tightly. Even though dance practice makes me very busy and physically tired all the time, I’m always excited and happy to be a part of it.
Second, I share every moment with my friends here. When I’m happy, my friends are here with me; when I’m sad, they are still beside me. There are some times when I feel homesick or ill, but my friends really encourage me a lot by telling that they are always here for me, and it gives me a big energy to keep fighting over any obstacles. One time, I got flu and was badly sick. During one of those horrible days, when I returned to my dorm at night after my long hours dance practice, my roommates were waiting for me to give me a hot ginger tea in order to make me recover. After drinking a cup of tea, which they prepared for me, in just the next morning, I didn’t feel any pain in my throat and there was no headache at all, and I thought that small cup of ginger tea made me fully recovered because it was filled with love.
My friends in Taiwan gave me a big opportunity to feel the real friendship and to understand the value of true friends. Overall, I have learnt a big lesson: it’s that age, sex, nationality, or anything don’t cause a single problem to build up a great friendship.
